At Sant Pau, walls speak. They speak in tesserae, glazes, and coded motifs.
Read color as intention
- Blues and greens: calm, hygiene, breath.
- Gold accents: dignity, civic pride.
- Earth tones: warmth and human scale.
Motifs to hunt
- Floral spirals
- Heraldic signs
- Geometric borders
- Medical and charitable references
Look closer: repetition creates rhythm, but tiny variations keep each surface alive.
Spotter table
| Detail | What it does |
|---|---|
| Border bands | Frames the gaze |
| Rosette motifs | Softens rigid geometry |
| Chromatic transitions | Guides movement between zones |
Tiny mission
- Capture one motif from far away.
- Capture the same motif in close-up.
- Compare the emotional effect.
Final note
Decoration here is never just decoration; it is environmental psychology before the term became fashionable.
